Hi, my boy is 9 months old but has never slept through the night, he often wakes up and shouts till he is given his bottle and sometimes after a few mouthfuls goes back to sleep and other times half a bottle does it, he is my first baby so I was thinking must be ''the norm'' till he then started recently waking in the night and being wide awake from say 3 or 4am till 6 or 7am so I am very tired all the time, and I read how most babies sleep right through at his age when he hasn't ever done that not even one night.
I have tried not giving him anything and that doesn't work as will keep shouting and with my partner up at 6am 6 days a week I can't just leave him shouting plus after a while he will be wide awake.
He goes to bed at 8pm and sometimes takes an hour to get to sleep then a couple of hours later he will shout out eyes shut waiting for milk, I've tried earlier bedtime and by 1am he is wide awake.
I just would like one night where he sleeps through
I don't know what else to try that I haven't already

I don't think most babies sleep through at that age, mine certainly didn't. He started sleeping through when he started learning to walk, which was around 10/11 months and even then it wasn't linear. It is tough. He's 18 months now and sleeps through unless ill or teething.

I would look at his activity levels and naps during the day - how many hours is he sleeping in a24 hour period? Does he get enough exercise? Does he eat enough in the day?

Are you sure he's hungry? He might be thirsty or just looking for comfort. He is still very little and might just need reassurance that he's not been abandoned.

If dad "needs" his sleep do you have a spare room he can sleep in?

It's totally normal for 9 months old babies to have never slept through the night. The 3/4am wake ups suggest he is getting to much day sleep, and/or napping until too late in the day. What's his normal nap routine?
