Baby monitor - when to stop?

I just wanted to see when is an acceptable age to stop using a baby monitor?
I still use it for my 2 year old (turned 2 in September), he does often wake in the night but will just lay there for a while until he goes back to sleep. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and having a terrible first trimester and I really need the sleep without distractions if possible, my little one usually wakes me up either coughing or having a little whine or might cry from a nightmare but always goes back to sleep. I get really anxious not having the camera on but at the same time I really need the sleep. He is in the room next door so I am hoping I would hear him if it was to be a loud cry but I get worried in case I don't. Advice please. Thank you x

My three year old has had a vomiting bug this week. Was crying and being sick so quietly that without the monitor I wouldn't have known, because I have white noise on in my room for my younger ones to sleep, so would have needed him to stop being sick to be able to get out of bed and come into my room. I intend to keep using it until my little ones are old enough to ask me to stop personally.

When I was pregnant and felt the same as you, I used to put it next to my husband's head overnight. He'd wake if one of them were crying but never if just shouting out in their sleep briefly so that worked OK.

My little one turned 2 in September and I still use it and will be for a while yet. He's only in the room next door but with his door shut I can't hear him without the monitor.

If you have a partner, i think they need to take the reins now on the monitor for a while.
