6mo waking every 45 mins at night

My 6mo night sleep is horrendous. If I get a two hour stretch that is rare. Usually sleeps for about 45 mins but can range between 20-90 mins. When he wakes he sometimes wants a feed, sometimes wants a cuddle, sometimes doesn’t know what he wants and I pick up and put down multiple times. This all started after 4m regression and slowly got worse. No longer sleeps in next to me either.

In the day, he usually sleeps 3 times, one 30 min nap in the morn, one around lunch and aim for a long (90 min) one in the afternoon with bed time at 7. This can easily go wonky when my toddler is around as she often wakes him up early. Every nap has to be a contact nap. Any time we try to put him down his eyes open instantly.

I know it does get better on its own, but this feels like madness at the moment and just don’t know if there is anything I can try (excluding leaving him to cry - no shade, just not my bag)

does he feed fully when you put him down for the night? or does he fall asleep. i read a book (7pm to 7am) with lots of really good tips. if your LO falls asleep while feeding, wake him up by laying him down and a tickle and make sure he has burped. for the first few weeks keep waking him and burping him till you know he's milk drunk and then he should sleep for a 2-3 hour stretch intially which should get longer and longer.

Sorry it's rough OP.

My first baby was exactly like this. I got to a breaking point with it and gave in to co-sleeping which worked for us, not necessarily suggesting it for you. also made my husband get up with baby in the morning so I could get an extra half and hour 😆

We can all offer a combination of suggestions but hard to say if anything in particular will work for you and your baby.

The last nap of the day does sound a bit late though. Could it be dropped?

I promise it will improve eventually.
