14/15 month old sleep

Hey.

My son will be 15 months next week. I am really not sure what to do regarding his sleep, originally he was on 2 x naps, 9-10:30 and 2-3 asleep by 7. He would wake from 6-6:30 occasionally later. This was fine although he didn’t like being woke at 3! I woke him from both naps, then it started to take him longer to get to sleep on an afternoon so he was even more tired.

I was trialing the 1 nap - i persisted until about 12 and he slept just over 2 hours, went to bed at 7 and for about 3 days he did wake at 7 or thereabouts. But now for a good few weeks he is waking 5:5:30, I try and not get him out the cot until 6. But he is awake the entire time and he is so tired come about 8! It’s very hard to keep him going until 12, I’ve managed it a few times and he’s slept over 2 hours and went straight to sleep, obviously shattered. But the next day wakes early again. Once I tried to do 2 x naps. 9-10 & 1:30-2:30, but he didn’t go down for about 40 mins at 1:30, so he obviously wasn’t as tired - he ended up sleeping 2:20 and I woke him at 3. That night he woke at 6:50. Not sure if this is a coincidence.

He is def happier after a longer nap than when he is woken, however no idea what to do. I appreciate the mornings are hard anyway when transitioning but 5am wakes make it pretty impossible! And when he wakes so early he’s shattered!

any help or guidance would be so welcomed! Thank you

I have started watching my 15 month old’s sleep over the week rather than focusing on nap times. Some days she has a short nap in the morning around ten and another at 3 and more times she has a long middle of the day nap. She sleeps 8 to 7. Saying that, she decided to wake up at 3 this morning all smiling and Happy for some reason for 40 minutes
