Hi all
So I'm really confused what to do. I have a 4 year old and a just turned one year old.
We're struggling with getting them both to sleep in their own beds..
I don't need any judgemental comments but any help would be appreciated.
So we lived with inlaws till my now 4 year old was 2.5years old. He slept in our room. His cot was joint with our bed and he was fine sleeping there. (They didn't have the space for us to move him to his own room but my OH didn't want to move him out even if we did).
We moved into our own house.. I was pregnant with second.. Hubs didn't want to move eldest in his own room because second baby was due soon and didn't want him to feel like We're kicking him out when he's been in the same room as us for so long.. plus he was starting nursery and adjusting to a new baby, new home, there was just too much going on..
Baby came along. She slept in her own cot. We tried to get eldest to sleep in his own bed. Even letting him sleep in ours then moving him but he kept coming back into our bed.
Bought him a bed which we thought he might like.. didn't work. He refused to sleep in it. Every time we put him in, he comes back pretty much straight away. Thus his sleep is disturbed.
Anyway. They've both been quite unwell recently. During this time, little one has been in our bed as she kept waking up in her cot.
I don't know where to go from here...
- Either we buy another bed and get eldest to sleep in another room (but when I spoke to him he said he won't sleep alone.. he won't be able to see his mum he said.. so I'll have to be with him in second bedroom) and let one year old sleep in the big bed because she finds it comfortable
- We buy a single bed and attach it to our current super king size so at least we all have more space.. and then get little one to adjust in her cot (our bedroom is big enough to fit all this).
I'm actually so lost. I don't know what to do.
Will my eldest ever adjust to his own bed?
How do I get little one to adjust to her cot again? 😳
