Clocks gone back, so baby up at 4 am

It's 4am, and my 1 year old is proper awake. I can't get her back to sleep. I breastfeed, and she'd happily just breastfeed for an hour now. I'm so exhausted. She's been sleeping terribly anyway, and I've been up a 530am a lot. But now the bloody clocks have gone back, and it's 4am. I just wanted to complain to somebody. Maybe there's another parent out there also up and miserable that it's 4am? We have to keep on a brave, happy face for our littles, but it is so hard!

Ditto lol I'm currently sat here with my eyes burning 😭😭

undercoverhero74 · 28/10/2024 04:30

We are up too 😭 here is me hoping that baby goes back down after a feed 🤞🏻

Underthesea19 · 28/10/2024 04:44

We're reading books. I accepted defeat. She'll have a nap at 9 probs and the older DC will be up then. Pray for me 😅 ... We can do this!

My DD is awake since 1.5h 😫 She has daycare 9-12 and not sure she will make it.

Morning!! Yeah my much older (3yr 9mo) son is awake: i tried to get him to go back to sleep…
i got up and checked the time on the oven in our kitchen before (like you) admitting defeat and getting up and putting the kettle on and making him a crumpet as requested. However, I then sat down to look at my phone and realised I’d forgotten to change the oven clock and it’s actually 4.30 am 🥴
however, in my son’s defence, he had an early night yesterday following a busy day so he’s probably had enough sleep (me, on the other hand 😳😳🙈)

Oh no 3.30am? Hope you get some rest or she goes back to sleep!

Long day ahead! I'm sure I did the exact same thing you did when my older one was younger. These clock changes are brutal on us parents!

We're up too. Although, half 4 is a win compared to 2.45 yesterday and 1.30 the night before. She's usually an excellent sleeper but she's full of cold atm which is affecting her sleep a lot.

Birdsnesthead · 28/10/2024 05:50

I’m with you all. I was dreading the clocks going back! Tried going to bed later and it’s made no difference 😩

PurBal · 28/10/2024 05:51

Parenthood is when everyone else looks forward to the clocks going back and an extra hour in bed.

Jellybean85 · 28/10/2024 06:19

5:30 am here and we were thrilled as we thought it would be much worse!! I used to love this time of year Grin

Meadowfinch · 28/10/2024 06:24

Annoying, isn't it. I've been doing the puzzles on Mumsnet for the last 40 minutes.

I might get up and make a cake in a minute. I'm bored. My DS is 16 and has got to the sleeping like the dead stage. He won't be awake until lunchtime. 😀

Olika · 28/10/2024 06:31

My DD has now been awake for 3h. Taking her to daycare in 30min and hoping I can take a nap after food shopping until I pick her up. 🤞🏼

cadentiasidera · 28/10/2024 10:50

It's so strange that the clock change in October is the one we used to love and now we hate it, but the one in March where we lose an hour feels much better... "Ooh they've slept till 7am!!!" (When it was really 6am old time!)

undercoverhero74 · 29/10/2024 05:12

We managed to make it until 5am today! How are you all?

OtterOnAPlane · 29/10/2024 06:16

We get 5.25, which I'm counting as a win🥱

DustyLee123 · 29/10/2024 06:18

I thought being awake to 5am yesterday was bad, but today it was 4.30 😩
Is there somewhere we can campaign to stop changing the clocks?

Olika · 29/10/2024 07:12

6.30am today. At least better than yesterday. 😂

Jellybean85 · 29/10/2024 08:10

We also were at 5am today, or 4:55 but trying to tell myself 5 as that feels better 🙈

SunnyQuail · 29/10/2024 09:08

Baby made it to 6.20, but the toddler was awake every half an hour from 2am. So tired.

dummydummy · 30/10/2024 06:56

4.30 today for DC1 (age 6) 😭 At what stage do they "reset" and get used to the new time?! Some children clearly have a much stronger body clock as DC2 happily slept til groclock went yellow no problem...

Olika · 30/10/2024 09:37

My DD woke up 5.30am again. She used to wake up more close to 7-8am so not sure why since Sunday it's so much earlier. She just fell asleep for her nap (it's 11.30am where we are) and we are driving so I am hoping she sleeps through our journey and then stays awake later tonight. Am trying to be optimistic she returns to normal sleep timings every day for next morning. 🤞🏼
