Overnight nappy changes

I keep reading about people not changing nappies overnight unless dirty, but how is this possible without leaking??

I tried for over a week and 9/10 times woke at 4am to a soggy sleeping bag. Is it only possible when baby is no longer having night feeds?

Currently I'm back to changing nappy before feed which causes screaming and makes it much harder to settle so any advice appreciated x

Yes, IME this doesn't really apply when they're still having night feeds, or maybe if they only need a small top up during the night.

I used to change it before the 2nd night feed (1st night feed was always brief) and yes there was some upset, but quickly calmed down with the milk.

Another thing I tried a few times was reusable nappy boosters inside a disposable nappy. So instead of a complete change Id just take away the wet booster. Still a bit fiddly though.
