FTM to a 23MO son. We are in the depths of early wakes and each week seems to be getting earlier. Today was 4.20am. Ever since the clock changes this time last year he became an earlier waker 6/6.30 then that moved to 5.30/5 and now it’s seems to be 4.30/5. At a complete loss on what to do he is a self soother and settles well for naps and bed time and once asleep you don’t near a peep, I have tried longer naps shorter naps longer wake window before bed shorter wake window before bed nothing seems to help. Rough routine kind of looks like;
wake 4.30/5.30
nap 11.30/12 for a hour or so ( we started to capping this as I read to much day sleep can cause early wakes)
bed 6.30/7
at this point I will take 5.30am wake but I carnt even get him to sleep that long. I generally try to keep lights tv off ect till close to 6am. Carnt help but think the routine is off as it’s getting earlier and earlier so it’s indicating something but not sure what. I have ruled out hunger/being cold so it’s not that. We are all exhausted and it’s now taking its toll on me and his dad getting snappy ect.

thanks

We had similar with our daughter at 16 months - spoke to a sleep consultant who suggested pushing the nap back to 1 and aiming for a 7:30/8:00 bedtime, it's moved wakes to 5:30/6:00 which is still painful but more manageable!! You can move the nap in 15 minute increments every day or try for a 5/10 minute cat nap mid morning and a longer nap from 1. Good luck!

6.30-4.30 is a good night's sleep - if he goes to bed really early he's going to get up early.

I'd start incrementally pushing bedtime to 8 - 15 minutes later every night.
Also make that nap 1-2.30 - 15 minutes later every day.
Start treating anything before 6am as a night wake - do not turn lights on, do not get anyone out of bed.
