11 month old nap times

hello, my 11 month old has 2 naps a day and are not always at the same time. She has always had bad sleep during the night, is there a danger nap time when she shouldn’t have her second nap?

At that age my children had one nap a day after lunch for about an hour and half and definitely not after 3pm. Bedtime routine started with a bath around 6pm, asleep for 7pm.

Hiya :) thank you, how did you know when to drop a nap? Did your little ones just stop them? My girl does get tired in morning still (but might be because she wakes up 4x plus) and still gets tired in the afternoon. I didn’t realise about danger naps 🙈 she does have her second nap sometimes around 3ish or later 🙈🙈 x

@RuddersLynds we adjusted them into the routine after they weren't too tired for their morning nap. If mine slept after 3pm it would be hopeless for bed at 7pm lol 😂
Maybe try and set out a new routine? It might take a week or two to get into it but definitely worth a try x

I think we were still on 2 naps at that age. One at about 10ish and then another at 2 or 3. I didn't let him sleep after 4 and aimed for a 7.30 bedtime.

Sorry to hear things are tough at nighttime OP!

Every child is different. My boy is almost 18mo and still needs two naps:

6:30 wake
9-11 nap
3-5 nap
7/7:30 bed

and he sleeps right through!

Could your little one be too tired? That can make them sleep less, annoyingly.

Perhaps cold or hot?

Do you use white noise? Mine definitely needs white noise or he does rouse during the night.

I would put her down as soon as you see a sleep cue and try to get as much sleep in the day as possible.

my DS is 11 months and we are on two naps.

day looks like:

morning rise 6:45
nap 1: 9:45-11
nap 2 14:30-15:30 ish
bedtime routine starts 18:15
bed 19:00

he then sleeps through

generally don't let him sleep past 15:30, 15:45 at the most. at nursery he has a hard wake up time of 16:00 but only if naps have run later, and we accept bed time would be later in that case. most of the time he's on schedule at nursery and he's up between 15:00 - 15:30

we do offer naps on a by the clock basis (so same time every day) with appropriate wake windows
