9 month old not sleeping well

Hi all, I’m hoping for some similar experiences to mine and some tips on how you solved it as I’m going mad with our 9 month old not sleeping well.

She was always quite a good sleeper from around 2-6 months but from 6 months onward I think we’ve had two good nights of sleep. I think maybe there was a phase around 7 months where to slept from 7:30/8pm to around 4am had a feed then slept to 7am (this is what I want now! I don’t mind one night wake up)

Im back at work now so really want to crack it as I can’t cope with the lack of sleep.

So issues seems to be:

  • When she was first put into the big cot she started rolling in her sleep a lot, would roll onto her front, wake herself up and cry (she can roll back but in her sleep doesn’t seem to do this)
  • Latest trick is she’s learnt to sit upright so come 1am/2am etc. I find her crying sat upright
  • i am breastfeeding her in the night, I try not to for the first few minutes and I send my husband in first so she can’t smell the milk but sometimes the only thing that settles her is a feed

In general she goes down well about 7;30/8pm after her bath and evening routine. She’ll sleep okay until 11pm then it’s 1am, 3am, 5am and then wake up time at 7am. So more or less every two hours! I’m worried she’s waking out of habit for a feed but if I don’t feed her we get that really horrible crying from her where nothing will comfort her. I’d also like to wean her off breastfeeding in the next few months, she’s already on formula at nursery.

Any tips from anyone who has gone through similar? Or sleep training methods that have worked for you?

I am thinking of a sleep consultant but not sure how effective that would be.
