11month old won’t sleep in cot

Hiya, looking for some advice please… my 11 month old has never been a good sleeper and reluctantly we ended up co sleeping. I’m now due to have another baby in a month and I’m worried about the sleeping situation. We would like to get him sleeping either in his own room or in with his brother but I just don’t think he’ll sleep in a cot as he likes to be cuddled a lot but then he’s not able to sleep in a bed as he’s too young and can’t walk yet. I’m also heavily pregnant and due a c section so wouldn’t be able to lift him in and out of the cot.

has any one else been through this? Any suggestions to ease the transition out of our bed?

thanks!

Have you considered a floor bed maybe instead of a cot?

My LG has just turned 1 and we coslept until about 6 weeks ago as she has never liked her Moses basket, next to me, pram or anything else I’ve tried. Always had to be on me or in with me! It’s only because she’s kicking me in her sleep I have had to start moving her!

I use the Napper app to make sure she’s sleeping as per the predicted times so wasn’t too tired or under tired when trying to get her in there and tbh they are very much on point. I then feed her to sleep in her room and transfer her to her cot as soon as she falls into a deep sleep (her snoring and arms are my cue). She tends to stay down for 4-5 hours and wakes up for a quick feed. It’s only after this if she wakes again she comes back in with us around 4am otherwise she sleeps then until 5.30. To begin with she wouldn’t even entertain her room when awake but I spent a week making sure that’s where we were after every bath time routine. I also put some toys in her cot during the day so she could play for 5 mins or so while I opened bedroom windows etc. The first week or so I just aimed for 1 nap a day in there and eventually it’s led to 2 naps a day when we are home for them plus bedtime.

good luck with your new arrival too xx
