Hi all! Help needed- 6 week old exhausted during the day but will not close his eyes or be put down! Will fall asleep for 10 mins max and wake up screaming this goes on allll day! Contacts naps arw limited as i have a toddler also! Please help! Gets overtired/stimulated in the evenings then screams his head off! At my witts end! We also have a family wedding at the weekend and leaving him with grandma making me more anxious as i dont want him to be kicking off! I thought long naps were a given at this age!

He lived inside you for 9 months. He doesn't know any different and is seeking that closeness and warmth. As previously mentioned you'll need to try a sling or keeping him in same room/bed as you. All babies are different and some will sleep happily on their own but most don't! Have you ruled out colic or any digestive/feeding issues?

You may well need to do contact naps. My DD would only stay asleep with constant motion so we had to bounce her up and down on a medicine ball constantly. It's tough but you can't expect a tiny baby to just sleep without you suddenly. You might need to walk them in the pushchair/try driving around. My DD NEVER napped in her cot, she just wouldn't have it. But tbh i miss those contact naps now.

I mean he's only 6 weeks old...put him in the sling, if contact naps is what will get him to sleep then you'll need to do that. I appreciate you don't want to but at 6 weeks old when he's been in your tummy for 9 months he's gonna want to be with you

that is true-he is just 6 weeks! Comparing him to dd who slept in her chair or moses basket without any issues. He sleeps in moses basket during the day beside me or in next to me at night. Will try the sling

thanks x
