13 month old not settling.

Hiya I'm new here and a first time mum.
I have a 13 month old who is struggling to settle at night unless I am in the room. When I try to leave because i think he's asleep he shoots up in his cot and starts crying.
He normally goes off quickly and on his own but recently that's gone on the window.
Once he finally goes he tends to sleep through the night.

If he wakes and I'm not in the room he cries but as soon as I walk in he lays back down.
He is currently teething, 6 coming through all at the same.time but that doesn't normally affect his sleep.

Am i going to him too quickly? Is he getting used to be being there? Im in a building with very thin walls so I don't like leaving him to cry due to the neighbours. Any tips would be appreciated thank you

I would just give him what he needs to settle. I have a 14mo and live in a flat so I get the worry about thin walls. Teething is so hard on them (and us) so I wouldn't worry about creating 'bad habits' by responding to him quickly. I bet he will be happy to go to sleep alone once the teeth are through if he was before x

I didn't appreciate how bad teething was until I had a wisdom tooth come through. It's fucking painful. You just doze rather than sleep until you're exhausted and then sleep. Cut him some slack - give Calpol and nurofen twenty mins before bed and stay a bit longer. He needs more support right now, not less.
