Is it safe for a 10 month baby to sleep on their tummy or side at night?

My 10 month baby is so fidgety at night. He's put down in to bed (which is next to me in our bedroom) on his back but within an hour or 2 he's fidgeting all over the place and rolls on to his tummy with his face to the side.

Is this safe and ok for him to do and sleep this way? He can roll his self completely over and push himself up etc but I've always read that babies under 1 shouldn't sleep in their tummy's, so I'm constantly rolling him back disturbing his sleep and obviously getting very little myself as this is all through the night 😣

If he can turn himself then he is fine.

If he can roll and sit up and push himself over he'll be fine. My kids all slept on their stomachs as soon they could roll over. Sleep bags are great for this stage.

Once they can roll over its fine. Just leave baby sleeping.

As he can roll himself back he's absolutely fine. Mine always tried sleeping on his belly from really early on so as soon as he'd mastered rolling properly I just left him to it. They always seem to want to be in positions that aren't safe or really uncomfortable looking😂

My DD was very wriggly HV said if they can roll themselves over it's fine to leave them

Thank you 🙂 suppose I'm just abit anxious of letting him sleep that way. Haha he does sleep in some random odd positions which look super uncomfortable esp for his neck!

Im amazed sometimes that my DS doesn't get a cramp in his neck from the way he sleeps sometimes 🤣 I put him in a single floor bed when he was 9/10 months old because he was just such a wriggler and he obviously needed more space. Yet he'll still end up in the corner in a position I'm sure is usually only performed by contortionists 🤣

Haha mines the same looking like he's going to snap his neck. Like you say contortionists in the making 🤣
