Is this 8 month regression??

The past two nights my 7.5 month old has woken up 7 or 8 times SCREAMING within the first couple of hours of being put to sleep in his cot for the night. He was previously doing really well and sleeping from 7:30/8pm often until 5am without needing a feed. He would do the odd false start but these were easily solved by popping the dummy back in and he'd drift immediately back off to sleep. Now he will wake up screaming his head off and the only way to get him back to sleep is feed him / rock him / hold him til he goes back down.

His naps remain unchanged and are still very good. He naps twice a day in morning/afternoon in the same room / cot that he sleeps in at night and never has any issues sleeping 1.5-2.5 hrs per nap. When he wakes up from naps he is content and I can sometimes happily leave him in the cot for 5-10 mins awake if I am just finishing off some housework etc before going to get him.

So I don't think this is a cot / room issue and it's not teething either because again it wouldn't just be affecting him at night and never at all during the day.

Has anyone else experienced this?? I have no idea what to do!!! Please help!!

My LO is 14 months and has 12 teeth. Would suffer with teething pain throughout day and night, like you say. No idea why but when he got his last two teeth he was fine all day and would scream murder of a night! We only figured out it was his back teeth when we could slightly see them when he was screaming in the night. We gave nurofen and held him and he was back to sleep within 20 mins. It might be worth a try. He sleeps in his own cot too. These babies ay!
