3 month old barely naps all day but wants to nap for long time before bed

He tends to have very sporadic short naps throughout the day but then will want to nap late afternoon/early evening but then if you try to put him bed earlier than 8/9 he won't go sleep and will just constantly wake. How to get him to have better naps in the day? I was always told to keep it light and noisy in the day. But then some sources online say keep it dark and quiet for naps!! I don't know which one to do because we have to go out some days so if he will only start to nap in the dark/quiet then he won't nap if we are out?!

Really at a loss of what to do. Any friendly advice/tips would be greatly received. Thank you x

I used to wake mine up if they tried to nap again mid or late afternoon. I don't think it's popular on here to do that though.

What time is it he is wanting this nap? Could this actually be babies desired bedtime?
Mine has always always wanted an early bedtime even as a newborn!!

Never been up later than 7pm.

Short naps are a pain but normal I'm told at that age. Mine started to do longer between 5-6 months and consistently has a long nap for his second now (on 3 naps per day) I just rode it out of contact napped once a day so I could resettle in my arms.

This! Because if you don’t they’re a bloody pain in the arse at bedtime 😂
