Baby Room Temp - 21 degrees

Help - all advice online says baby in a 21
degree room should be in a vest, baby grow/sleep suit and 1 tog sleeping bag but I worry this is too much and my baby will overheat.

Does anyone have advice for a paranoid Mama?

My baby is 2 weeks old so I’m just trying to navigate heat and summer

I'd go with vest and baby grow with a thin blanket. Babies can't regulate body temp and body temp does drop when you're asleep. Mine was this age in winter so I didn't have this worry when he was so tiny. Just keep checking on her if you're worried, but test the temp on her torso because arms and legs will naturally feel cooler. Hope you have a good night 😊

My baby is 4 months and wearing a vest and 1.5 tog sleeping bag. Too cold is safer than too hot if that helps?

I try and follow the same advice about it being one more layer than me even at night, so for 21 degrees I would probably do a sleepsuit with a 0.5 tog sleeping bag, or even just the sleepsuit.

I hope someone with better advice comes along but our April baby has been mainly in just sleepsuits, or sleepsuits with a thin muslin blanket tucked in, we haven't used our sleeping bags yet. Our room is always very warm though so she's been spending the last few weeks in just a vest.

A cold baby would wake up and I'd rather that happen than her overheat.

Much sympathy, I fret about the temp all the time. My 9MO's room has been around 21-23 degrees lately and she's sleeping really well in her long sleeved bodysuit (so no legs on it) and 1.5 tog sleepsack. I've got the temp down to mostly around 21 degrees recently as I discovered she sleeps fine with the windows open and thin curtains closed, so the travel black-out blind I'd been diligently sticking to the window each night isn't actually necessary for her 🤣 I was having all sorts of trouble trying to cool the room down whilst keeping it properly dark and quiet haha. Good luck!
