Double bed for toddler?

My (almost) 3 year old has never slept through the night. Not once. She's such an active, wriggly sleeper and never took to sleeping in her cot constantly bashing her head on the wooden bars. We tried a wooden floor bed ( double ) when she came out of the cot but she found squishing up against the wood uncomfortable and it killed my back trying to get her down. So, we have just bought her a full on adult double bed - albeit in pink as we already had the double mattress I'm now wondering if this was a bad idea and we haven't assembled it and should have tried her in a single. Her room isn't the biggest and it doesn't leave a lot of space for play or for her to have a bedside table. That being said she's co slept with me for the past year so it gives room for me or my husband to get in with her if she needs. Any advice?

Definitely go for the double. My second son was in a double from 9 months old (hated the cot and we co-slept til he was about 1). He loved it and slept much better. Still regret that I didn't just do it with my first as well! I still hop in with him for a cuddle as needed, and means I still get good sleep and it doesn't wreck my back.

We did a double for our second after the cot so age 3 ish and it was sort of by accident as we moved and put the spare room double up in his room temporarily but he loved it so much he never got a single bed and it made reading books together lovely and cuddly and def easier if he needed a cuddle back to sleep as with a single you always feel like you are holding onto the edge! And when we moved again we got our older boy a double too - they love the space to stretch out

Our dc had a double and no room to play. It’s fine, I appreciated always being able to lie next to him during illness / bedtime stories / sleepless nights. He plays everywhere in the house now including his bedroom.

We got ours a double when he was almost 3.
A bit of a fluke, the cot was supposed to transition to a toddler bed (by removing the sides) but DH broke it when disassembling and I didn't want to buy a single bed and then eventually have to buy a double bed, so we skipped it and went straight to double.

Story time is so lovely in the double and DS was so so pleased with his "big bed" and has slept like a dream in it.

We did it. I was hesitant but best decision we made.

Small double bed - best of both worlds, big enough to get in with them but still some room to play
