Getting a little bot to sleep in his own bed

Hi Ladies looking for some advice.

I have a little boy who is due to turn 4 soon and he just will not stay in his bed.

I have a stairgate that he can climb and he can open all the doors. He's quite sneaky about it too waits until I am asleep and then jumps in with me. He doesn't cry or make a fuss and is happy to put himself to sleep at bed time. But when he wakes up in the night he is determined to get into my bed.

I have a new partner and even though I am comfortable with him around little one. I don't feel comfortable with all all sharing a bed at the moment. And also I do not sleep very well with him in my bed as he is a wriggler !!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated as not sure what angle to approach from.

He's much too old for stairgates.

How new is your new partner? It must be quite unsettling to have (to him) a strange man sleeping in the house.

I would try not to see him as "sneaky". He just wants to cuddle his mum at night, it's pretty natural.

Could you put a mattress on the floor of your room for him?

I used to play classical music all night when my dc were little.
