He has a silver cross bromley cotbed which is currently configured as a toddler bed, however we have another baby due in September. I was going to rebuild his cotbed into a cot and give to the baby (with new mattress).
Problem is I don't know what to buy him as a replacement. Do I just buy a 140x70 toddler bed that has guard rails or is low to the ground (I can't find many on the market) or so I go for a normal single bed? Or it it easier to just leave him in his cotbed for another couple of years and buy a new cotbed for new baby?

Thanks

I'd get a single bed tbh
Both mine went into single beds after the cot

At 2.5yrs old? I'm scared they're quite high if he falls out and that he would ruin a big expensive mattress with accidents.

I'm planning on putting mine straight in a single floor bed when they outgrow the cot stage. I don't see the point of a toddler sized bed. They'll need a single reasonably soon. May as well save the money and go straight there.

Re falls. Look up floor beds, you can't get injured.
Re accidents on mattress, get a good mattress protector. Accidents happen at any age and will happen after they get into single bed age even if you delay it as long as possible.

We moved our 2.5 year old into a single bed with bed rails attached. No point wasting money on a toddler bed for just a year or so.

We have a really good mattress. My waters broke whilst I was sleeping and I completely soaked the mattress protector. Mattress was completely fine though. A good mattress protector works wonders.

My ds's single bed was quite low to the floor and we used a bed guard. A waterproof mattress protector will keep the mattress safe
