Lie ins for mums

How can I ensure the wife gets one? Inevitably one of my two littl'uns (1 and 3) will sneak upstairs and disturb her or just make too much noise. I suppose I could whisk them out of the house but by the time I've got them ready and fed, they'd have woken her up anyway.
Any tips?

Take them out for breakfast.

I wouldn't mind being woken up if I knew I could go back to sleep again. Take them out somewhere.

OverMyDeadBody · 11/04/2008 10:22

Yep, I second taking them out for breakfast, or entertain them for a few hours with quiet games downstairs with the door closed.

Also train them to be quiet and make sure they don't sneak upstairs!

Get everything ready the night before. Get them up, washed, dressed and take them out somewhere for breakfast and then to the park to burn all the energy off.

Shut the bedroom door and tell the children that Mummy has gone out. Let your wife just have a lie-in and read. If she needs to sleep she will fall back to sleep once you have gone out.

get a stairgate to prevent them going upstairs

Iklboo · 11/04/2008 15:42

We've got baby gate at the bottom of stairs DS can't open to stop him climbing back upstairs

Most softplay's open reasonably early at the weekend. Make a big game out of getting dressed quietly and whisk them off to the softplay for breakfast.
