2 year old waking up screaming saying scared

I don’t know what to do!
My DD turned two last month and has been a solid 12 hours, self settling sleeper for as long as I can remember.

For the past two nights she’s started waking every 20-30 (an hour if we’re lucky) mins screaming saying she’s scared. We’ve tried a night light - makes no difference. Each time, we go in, try to settle her in her cot which sometimes works if not, we get her out for a cuddle. Takes 5-10 mins each time for her to resettle and fall asleep for it just to happen all over again.
She can’t tell us what is scaring her - just keeps saying scared. She did it for the first time in her nap during the day so I’m thinking bad dream which she just can’t shake but not sure. We’re exhausted!
Any similar experiences, please?

Could be night terrors. One of my DC had them around that age - I couldn't wake him when he was in them - it was awful.
