Really struggling with my 2.5yo ds’s sleep at the moment. He takes around 2 hours to go to sleep at night sometimes longer as he is so hyperactive and won’t settle in bed or even my bed. We have a good routine but this doesn’t seem to be helping. Once he finally does go to sleep he will wake up and have a full blown meltdown which takes me so long to calm him down, he is autistic and non-verbal so he cannot tell me what’s wrong, it’s so awful to see him like this. Sometimes he can fall back asleep on me after this but sometimes he won’t go back to sleep until around 5-6ish and will hit and kick me if I try and put him back to bed, I’ve tried magnesium liquid and even the tik tok trend tart cherry juice but nothing seems to work! Please does anybody have any tips for anything else I can try??

Thanks so much!

Melatonin. You should be able to get a prescription from paediatrician.

We went to a private paediatrician for my daughter (then 21 months, definitely autistic but obviously undiagnosed), her sleep was an absolute disaster. She's been prescribed melatonin now and things are a bit better, especially the getting to sleep part.
She's now been accepted onto the NHS Community Paeds pathway 🙏

@Haggisfish3 @UsefulZombie thank you we should hopefully get our paediatrician appointment next year so I can discuss with them but it’s such a long way away!

I buy melatonin liquid from a website for my son.
