My DD was very good from 8 weeks slept through (I know i was very lucky) we have no formal routine other than bath, playtime, milk, bed...

However 8 weeks ago she was ill and is nearly over it (had a chest and ear infection) and she screams blue murder as soon as you put in her cot .

I used to be able to put her in her cot with soft toys during the day when she was showing signs of being tired and she would play forget herself and fall asleep now only if I put noisy toys in can I get her in her cot to play, but 5 mins (enough time to have a quick shower) and she is screaming again

So for the last 6 weeks we have been co-sleeping which is fine in theory but if I try to move her even if she appears in deep sleep she wakes up i really don't think I can handle controlled crying (I tried last night but she coughs - end of cold/infection) previously when I have left her (at the beginning of the illness before I knew she was ill and just thought she was being clinging she coughed after crying for about 10mins and was sick) so I am really wanted to try to avoid CC! Any suggestions? I have tried laying on the floor in her room or holding her hand but she gets hysterical in the cot
thankx

Nothing to add other than support and sympathy. Going through similar with DS2 who is 7 months. On antibiotics for ear infection and coughs like a seal pup at night. Goes down fine at bedtime but wakes during the night and it takes me hours to resettle him. He falls asleep in my arms then goes mental as soon as his head hits the cot. I've been feeding him as well, not sure whether I am making it worse but he's not eaten solids for 4 days so he must need extra milk?? Last night I has to resort to Medised as it was 4.35am at this point and DS1(2.1 yrs) was already in our bed as he'd woken up crying his eyes out twice which is not like him and DP needed to be up at 6am to go to airport. The night before I had to put baby in the pram in the kitchen and run the dishwasher for some white noise. It's getting beyond a joke. I am hoping things will settle down onc the ear infection goes, but I am terrified that a pattern is forming. I am desperately tired as I'm trying to work from home while all this is going on. If anyone can help i'd be grateful.. I have tried CC but he seems to go on forever and I find it really hard to listen to in the dead of night - plus am terrified it'll wake DS1 and they'll both be up. AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!
