10mo sleep - what can I do?

10mo has never been a good sleeper but ever since teething started 4 months ago he’s been awful. We’ve started co sleeping from his first wake up (usually 2 hours after being put down) as it’s so difficult to get him in his cot, and it was a battle every night through the night. He still wakes up multiple times to be fed (EBF).

i don’t want to sleep train, but can’t continue like this! What are some tangible things you did that helped sleep?? I don’t need a perfect night just improvement would be amazing.

couple of points - he starts nursery soon so I don’t want to give breastfeeding up until he’s settled in there. Hes not amazing with food so not sure I can night wean as when nursery starts he will be without me for 4 days and probably need to make up for things 😩

He could be bottle fed but with expressed milk. He should be eating solids. I found the boys needed more food. Once eating, he won't need as much milk.

I know he should be eating more solids - I offer it, he hasn’t taken to it as fast and has had bouts of illness which have set us back

he’s always refused a bottle

thanks for your help..

I don’t have any advice but I just wanted to say that some babies and then toddlers are simply bad sleepers and there isn’t much you can do. You will hear people say once they’re weaned, once they eat properly, once they start nursery, once they walk, etc etc. but the reality is sometimes, they just wake up no matter what you do.

How do you feel about gentle sleep training? Our nearly 2 year old still wakes once or twice but will go back in her cot...I'm sure it helped.

What kind of thing do you do in gentle sleep training? Thank you! X

At that age (or maybe a bit younger) we did pick up put down, then around 12 months after a teething blip we did gradual retreat, as she found pupd too frustrating. Also look at the baby sleep solution book by Lucy Wolfe. Consistent routine before bed, and whatever method you use consistency is key. I'm sure it's helped.
