12 week old wont sleep unless held

Using this as my last resort as I feel like I have tried everything!
I can’t get my little one (12 weeks old) to sleep unless held by either me or my partner.
From day one we have always had him in either his moses for naps or next to me for bedtime, he would wake for a bottle have a rock and be put back down
However around 8 weeks he started gradually creeping forward the times we could settle him for example he would sleep in his next to me 8-5:30/6am (wake for feeds) then would go 8-3 and refuse to be settled back in the next to me then 2 then 1 to not at all and now we are trapped in the cycle where he will not sleep without us.

I have tried putting him down for daytime naps (letting him stay on us for night time as I don’t want to overwhelm him all at once) to see if he starts once again being comfortable sleeping alone but he will not sleep longer than 20 mins alone before waking himself up- this is both when I put him down asleep or if I settle him to sleep in the cot.

We have also tried things like white noise, the rocket, a mattress vibration and item that smells like mum but I can’t seem to get anything to work.

Has anyone got any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated

So so normal!

DD1 is now 3 years old and DH and I used to alternate holding her at night until we gradually were able to put her down in the cot. It was hard work though. Some nights we would hold her for 45 mins straight until she was fast asleep enough to go down into her cot. She started sleeping through the night around age 1.

DD2 has been a nightmare. I coslept with her from day 1 and she is still breastfed at nearly 2y. She wakes more often than every 2 hours regardless of who puts her down. If I go in to settle her it takes me an hour before I'm able to leave the room again and even then she'll be up 30 mins later.

My advice would be to just go with the flow and do whatever feels right for you. Blackout blinds might help if your LO is waking earlier. The tommee tippee travel ones are fantastic.

If you can't get her down in her own crib at all, then give it a couple of weeks before trying again. She might be going through a regression, learning to roll, teething etc. all of which makes babies much more alert at night.

Put your baby down and wait for ten minutes by the clock.

They usually settle in that time period.
