10 month old routine - does the after noon nap need to be longest?

Hi,

i just wanted some help to know if my 9 month olds (10 months in a few days) sleep routine is fine for his age. He does his longer nap in the morning, and shorter in the afternoon but have been told this needs to switch? No idea how to do that.

wakes between 5:45-6:00am

nap 1: 9:00 - 10:30. he could down way before this but try and eek it out, and I always wake at 10:30 if he hasn’t woke.

nap 2: 2pm-3pm. Again wake him if he hasn’t woke

sleep: in bed for 6:45ish and usually asleep by 7pm.

is this okay? Or does anything need drastically changed!? He’s generally happy and content, quite tired in the mornings but think that’s normal. Just want to make sure he is getting the right amount of sleep at the right times for his age. Many people say the morning should be 30 mins only and afternoon longer - not sure why but would it be in his best interest to change this? And if so how do you do that 🤦🏻‍♀️

thanks 😌

Definitely wouldn’t change it if it’s working!
all babies are different and the nap times you’ll see online will be an average.

I wasn’t aware the afternoon nap should be longest - where did you hear that?

mine is 10 months and our naps are similar to yours - roughly wake 6.30am, nap 9.30am-11am, nap 2.15-3.15pm

@darkchocolatecoffee Oh really. That’s reassuring to know! On loads of sleep consultant pages when I was trying to research wake windows - cause the afternoon nap stays for the longest so best to have that as the “proper” nap: no idea!😂 but when he wakes at 5:45 sometimes he can be quite tired so wondered if that had anything to do with it! What time does your little one go down for bed?

@Justsomethoughts thank you! Yes for the most part it works but when he wakes at 5:45 / 6 he is so tired for the morning so I wondered if the nap had anything to do with it!

@Khd21 typically bedtime will be between 7-7.30pm :)

@Khd21 we're on the same routine here and works well for us too! What times do you do feeds/solids? I wondered whether fitting in meals and snacks might be easier with one short and one long nap
