7 week old catnapping baby - help!

Help!

Baby is catnapping in the day and is only taking half hour naps, which is exhausting as it takes at least 10/15 mins to get him to sleep.

It also means he is overtired and we end up with a screaming baby every day.

Things we are doing:
-swaddling
-dark room with white noise

Are there any suggestions to help get our baby to link his sleep cycles in the day please? He’s started waking in the night more too and it’s just exhausting 😴

At this age, they still think that they are part of you and don't know that they are a separate person so they get really freaked out when separated. Do contact naps for the the first couple of months then you can introduce cot naps again. If you have a partner, you can take it shifts at night where one of you sits up and holds the baby while he sleeps so the other can get some rest. Xx

Thats what most babies of that age do, just drift in and out of sleep throughout the day. Try not to think about it so much. Tiny babies don't need you to try and get them to sleep.

Our baby never puts himself to sleep. He would stay awake all day if not put to sleep. He’s 12lb2 so pretty big now!

I think that’s pretty normal. My second child fed every 15 mins for the first 6 weeks then woke every 2 hours day and night for the next couple of months. Both of mine had colic / reflux though which didn’t help.

He did end up settling into naps during the day on my chest for an 1.5 hours in the end.

I know it’s exhausting OP and feels never ending when you are in the midst of it but it does pass.

Hows feeding / wind?
