Hello, after some sleeping advice please…

My little one is 17 months old and still co sleeps with me. He’ll have his milk and sleep in his cot for around an hour but then wakes up very upset, I’ve tried everything to settle him without picking him up, I’ve slept on his floor for over a month with my hand through the cot but ended up caving and letting him back in the bed.

I have tried tonight laying next to the cot but as soon as I move he screams!

I was wondering if anyone has tried moving their co sleeping child into a floor/toddler bed and did this help them sleep on their own?

I’m due baby number 2 next year and I’m really worried about how everything will work if my toddler is still sleeping in the bed. Surely the newborn cries will wake him up?

Any advice appreciated!

My son was like this, I moved him to his own bed, he slept better but still did want me near him...

I co-slept in my own bed until my LO was around 12 months and then (after many unsuccessful attempts to get them sleeping in a cot) I moved them to a small-double floor bed in their own room.
I would lie next to them till they fell asleep, and then leave them to sleep alone. If they woke in the night, I, or my partner, would move into their bed and sleep there with them for the rest of the night.
I considered it an achievement just getting them into their own room, and knowing over time that they would start feeling safe there too. It also meant I still got to experience the joys of co-sleeping occasionally, along with the freedom of knowing I had my own bedroom and my own space too.
Gradually they just started sleeping through the night without waking at all.
