12 week old self soothing?

My nearly 12 week old second DS will happily go in his cot wide awake kicking about at bedtime and I’ll just sit on the bed and do nothing and he just goes to sleep in 10-15 minutes. What is this madness!!! My first DS I realise now was terrible!!! He had to be put down fast asleep and any wrong movement would be mean soothing all over again.

please don’t think this is a brag post as I know how frequent sleep can change in babies and I am eagerly awaiting the 4 month sleep regression. I am just in absolute awe of this I didn’t even know it was possible!

😅😅😅
I'm right here with you! But I've been terrified to ask anyone 'is this normal?'
My 2nd is 16w today and has self soothed since 8-9wks ... never ever realised how difficult it was with my 1st until now.
Although, she is 16w today ... so, regression incoming ...

@bracemyselfagain thats amazing!! I was so worried people would think I’m bragging but I just want to tell someone 😂 At the time I thought my first wasn’t that bad - but no he really was terrible.

I have heard that some miraculous babies don’t have 4 month sleep regressions so you never know we might get super lucky!

That's great @Blackfluffycats 😀

My DS started to do this too recently but only at night. What is your DS like for naps? Is he able to self soothe for those too? Mine will usually fall asleep relatively easily with a dummy and some patting and shushing but then wakes in 5-10 minutes and we have to start again. It can take an hour for him to go into deeper sleep and even then will wake after a maximum of 40 minutes, usually less. Same thing happens if I rock or feed him to sleep.

@amy1313 we are a bit hit and miss with naps to be honest as I tend to feed to sleep and have contact naps. I enjoy it so can’t help myself!

He can be put down with a dummy though during the day and he will fall asleep. I don’t need to do any other soothing but he will only have max 40 mins sometimes only 5-10 minutes like you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Enjoy this dream baby!

Yep mine slept through reliably (from 8-6) by six weeks and went to sleep by herself in the cot not long after.

Enjoy it. Four month regression hit HARD
