Split nights at 3 years old

Hi, hoping someone can help. We've had two split nights lately from our three year old. They've come out of nowhere. He shouts a lot in his sleep and i had assumed night terrors. I will leave him for a bit but go in if it amps up. He doesn't seem upset when I get there but cannot resettle and lies there awake in the dark. If I try and leave he cries and gets upset. If he comes in with me he will fidget next to me for 2 hours or more before finally dropping off.

He has no day time naps. He usually goes to bed at 7 and wakes just after 6.

Big changes: sibling born six months ago. Move to preschool two weeks ago. Potty training three months ago.

The wake ups have been in the last week.

I cannot deal as we dealt with split nights at 1 year and it was dire! I now have a six month old who is also up four times in the night. Any suggestions much appreciated!

Is he too hot? What does he sleep in/have on the bed?

He is wearing shorts pajamas and has a light duvet but the duvet is usually off. The rooms are hot though - the house seems to retain heat - so maybe this is contributing. Thank you
