7 week old sleep habits

Hey everyone!

So this is probably totally normal but I'm a first time mum and have no idea.

Baby girl is 7 weeks old and yesterday spent the whole day awake but slept well during the night, then today she has slept all day only waking for feeds. I assume she's catching up on what she missed yesterday?

Some days she sleeps loads and others we get some lovely long wake periods. Google has a million different answers and I have no idea what's normal.

Thank you!!

Hello! There’s so much info out there isn’t there? It’s all a bit much!
I would say that a 7 week old really needs to be having some naps in the day. Probably about 4-5 hours over 3/4 naps. Obviously all babies are different and some need more or less than others. But definitely at that age she needs some nap time in the day! Do you support her to sleep e.g. rock/sing/feed/wear etc? My LO at that age seemed to be able to go for ages but really she was just getting overtired and need d a bit of helping getting to sleep.
You don’t need a set routine at that age but look to get around 15 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period.
I can’t recommend Lynsey Hookway on Instagram enough. She has so much info on baby sleep. I would look at that rather than Google. I’ve found it so helpful!!
