Looking for tips how to stop rocking baby to sleep for naps? 14 weeks old.

Night time he happily lies down in his bassinet or cot and doses off. No issues.

Naps is another story and he is now often refusing to be put down awake and I am rocking , patting. It's gotten worse.
Nap routine currently:

  • into sleep bag
  • into bedroom (dark room)
  • white noise on
  • cuddle and sing

I am following around 1.5 hour wake window so start the routine around 10/15 minutes prior .

Any advice as I feel iv got into such a bad habit here where he is falling asleep on us then transferring. Side note, He will happily also sleep in car and pram.

Maybe a bit unorthodox but have you tried using a mattress in the pram (as long as it's a flat newborn pram) and going for walks at nap time? That used to always send my LO to sleep and then when home I would continue pushing him gently in it for a few mins and he would stay asleep. After a few times doing that I would then just put him straight in the pram indoors at nap time and push for a few minutes and he'd go off. Fast forward 5 months and I still do this now lol and he still goes straight off to sleep!

Oh and also I should've added using a swaddle with mine was a LIFESAVER! Massive difference from day one of using that. I was gutted when he became too big for it!

Can you put a rocket on the bassinet?

@MaltipooMama one nap a day is usually in the pram and he goes straight off but I wanted good habit of the cot naps aswell!

we have not long gone arms out in the sleep bag as he showed signs of rolling .

@Unexpectedlysinglemum I feel like that replacing one habit with another and not helping to self settle :(
