Can co sleeping children sleep independently for some of the night? How?!

18mo dd usually sleeps independently but after co sleeping during illness we are back together (we co slept until about 11mos). She's well now but we are still co sleeping as she wakes up if we don't... I dont mind this except we have no evening! She goes down okay but wakes within an hour and won't settle again unless in bed with us.

I'd like to co sleep from 10/11pm when we are in bed! But fed up of going to bed at 8:30 just to keep her asleep.

Is there an answer? Anyone managed this?

It changed at around age 2 for us. Before that Ds would only sleep for about 40 mins- one sleep cycle

Your LO has managed it before, I am sure she will manage it again. Just take it at her pace and you will get there!
I still co sleep with my 15 month old and she has only just started giving me evenings really. It’s not every night but I go with her. Try not to rush (or get stressed - easier said then done!) and you will be fine! Good luck x
