My 2.5 dc is waking constantly at night having previously been a good sleeper. At wits end after several weeks of difficult put downs and numerous wakings and early starts.
He started being able to climb out of cot and would come into our room, so we took the sides off and it's now a toddler bed. But he has gone from just coming into our room when waking early, to coming into our room every time he wakes in the night, which can be two or three times a night.
He loves climbing and can open the toddler gate downstairs so I am a bit wary of getting another gate for his bedroom door. Its an oldish house and the door knob is quite high on the door so he opens it by putting his fingers under the door and pulling. We are going to try a draft excluder to see if that prevents him from levering it open. But perhaps a monkey door/door buddy type child lock could be a good idea to stop him running about at night. Or maybe a really tall baby gate...
The floor is padded/cushioned so the whole area is a comfy space for going back to sleep. I don't want to leave him to cry or be distressed but I do need him to 'relearn' going back to sleep on his own. At the moment me or his dad are going in and staying with him till he sleeps and then trying to get back to our bed. Or just staying in there with him and not really sleeping ourselves. He has a one hour nap each day after lunch but is so tired in the day his behavior is getting really challenging.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice, experienced similar and if so what did you do?
