Can babies sleep while feeding?

Does anyone know if babies can sleep while they feed? My dd is 9 weeks old and doesn't apear to spend much time sleeping but often when she is feeding she appears to be asleep (eyes tightly shut and not moving a muscle except her jaw! And she usually wriggles constantly even often when feeding). She lost a lot of weight initially so we spent the first few weeks trying to make sure she fed whenever she showed a vague interest but now that her weight is stabilizing I am worried that she's not sleeping enough... yes, paranoid first time mum!!! If sleep feeding does count too though, it would mean she's getting more than I thought and we just need to work on her sleeping in the right place She is generally a happy baby during the day though is having real problems sleeping at night at the moment and is definately over tired in the evenings when we try to put her down...

yes they can feed while a sleep so I wouldn't worry. As long as she is sucking.

I used to get my DS up for last feed when I wanted to go to bed and he never woke.
