14 month old finally sleeps through… How to transition to self-settling?

My 14 MO has starting sleeping through fairly consistently (barring the occasional wake up) for the past month or so. We still rock her to sleep. We were reluctant to mess with it before sleeping through became consistent but, now it is… I’m wondering how to move away from rocking to sleep. DH and I don’t really mind doing it as it doesn’t take long, but I’m conscious she’s getting heavier and seems like the natural next step? Any thoughts?

Congratulations! From a mum of a 15 month old who wakes constantly I can’t imagine how good it must feel for LO to sleep through!
Ive not mastered it myself but have a look at habit stacking by Lynsey Hookway - basically you gently add in something new to replace the old habit. E.g. a shush and a pat as well as a rock and then gradually phase out the rock and just shush and pat. Can take a while but it’s probably the gentlest way to do it!

Sending love with the night wakes - I know how challenging it is! I’m still very much prepared for the current sleeping through to be a phase but enjoying it while it lasts…!

That’s a good shout about habit stacking - definitely looking for something gentle so will give it a go! Thanks 😊
