To swaddle or not

Simply that. For a new born due early July would you swaddle or not? Am seeing mixed reports about swaddling so what would be the alternative for a summer new born? TIA

Get the Tommee Tippee gro snuggles. All bases covered as you can do swaddled with the arms in or open the poppers and use them as a conventional sleeping bag with the arms out. You want a low tog for a summer baby- they have handy guides online to show what baby should wear based on the room temp. One of mine was a thumb sucker so wanted her arms out, the other had a strong startle reflex and the swaddle was the only way we could get him to sleep in his own bed! You’ll figure out what your baby prefers once they’re here. And if you do swaddle remember you have to stop once they’re showing signs of rolling.

Try it and see. One of mine loved it, one hated it.

Agree with pp, your baby will probably make the decision for you! The tommee tippee sleep bags that do both are great. They do a summer weight (1 tog?)

My eldest would only sleep with both arms up by his head, my second needed his arms swaddled.

One of mine loved being swaddled , one didn't. I used one of my lightweight muslin cloths in the summer months so they didnt overheat.
