Nighttime with 4 week old

Just wondering what everyone else's nights look like with a newborn? We are still taking turns with DH to be up with 4 week old DS because he won't settle in his cot for longer than 10 minutes or if he does he's so noisy we can't sleep anyway (he's constantly grunting and wriggling). DH is going back to work soon so this is not sustainable for much longer, so I wonder what others do? Any tips? TIA!

Ours was also a grunty wriggler- and then developed a lovely habit of bashing his head against the side of the crib as a way to get to sleep. We alternate who is 'on duty' each night and the other person wears earplugs. We also did some safe 7 co-sleeping and found ds was much quieter weirdly when he was in our bed not the crib. They do grow out of the noisiness, and we found it much easier to sleep when we were repeatedly reassured by the HV that the horrible noises didn't mean he was choking 😳

A swaddle might calm baby down.

A dummy will also help

Thanks both, reassuring that it's not just our baby that does this! We already swaddle and are trying to get him to take a dummy.
