4 month old has short wake windows!

My LO turns 4 months this week and can barely make it one hour awake before she gets grouchy and starts rubbing her eyes.

I take this as a sign it's time to nap but it can take half an hour or more for her to go to sleep for just 30-40 minutes (she's now self settling in her crib for most naps) or she wakes up after 5 minutes wide awake again so we end up abandoning the nap!

She can fall asleep in as little as five minutes if we skip a nap so I don't know if she's undertired, but if I try to keep her up longer than an hour, she gets very unhappy?

This means she's taking about 5 naps a day and 2/3rds of the day she spends in the crib which seems like a lot either napping or drifting off!

She sleeps well at night, around 8-6 with 2 short feeds.

Is this a phase that will be pass soon? Am I mistaking overstimulation for tiredness? Any insight is appreciated!
