Taking ages to fall asleep since ditching the dummy

DS is nearly 2 and we ditched the dummy a week ago. He did amazingly the first few nights, a token split night in there for good measure, but since we’ve given up the dummy he’s been taking AGES to fall asleep. We already cap his nap at an hour and 15 mins maximum and he often sleeps less on nursery days.
With his dummy we would put him down at 7.15pm ish and he’d be asleep within 15 mins (but would wake early, like before 6am). Now we try putting him down the same time but he’s taking about 45 mins to an hour to fall asleep! Thrashing around, not crying but lots of chatting and sitting up and playing with his duvet.
Nothing has changed apart from getting rid of the dummy. Also he started asking for his dummy about 10 times today despite only mentioning it once a day in the past week.
Is there anything I can do to help any of this or will it settle down?
