Day time/night time sleep

So my 6mo has always been a tricky sleeper since he was 4mo we’ve been waking every 2 hours.

recently it had been getting better every 3 hours instead and tbh I actually got to to the point where I didn’t think day time sleep was affecting his night. Some days we’d have hour and half sleep in day others 2.5 and we’d still get a relatively good night. Last night before bed time despite my best efforts we were up over 4 hours and therefore uo every 2 over night.

He can self settle himself to sleep just has real trouble resettling.

I guess my question is do you find day time sleep affects night time sleep?

and I mean is there an age where it stops because my boy doesn’t nap great out the house and I do have to leave some days and I’m just wondering if every bad nap day will lead to 2 hourly wakes 😭

Hey! Yes I think day time sleep can definitely affect the nighttime. Babies just get over tired and need a lot more support to get to or stay asleep.
Can you improve his naps when you have to leave the house - try a sling? Or does he sleep well in pram or car seat? I would just try and schedule your day when you have to leave the house so he can get a nap in when you’re out and about.
Sling was always brilliant for my DD when I was out the house!

He sleeps in pram and car seat but never aswell and we have to be continually moving. I’m due to go go to a sling library as I don’t have a good one..
i guesss I’m wondering if the night time will always result in every 2 hours because that seems quite extreme 🤣

Unfortunately for me my DD still wakes frequently in the night (she’s 14 months). I can tell when she’s not slept enough in the day because it’s worse and she often wakes earlier the next morning!
Lots of babies wake up every 2/3 hours. It’s really tough on the parents but it is “normal”. It does get better eventually though!!

My little one for the first 13 months was the worst sleeper ever. Fighting naps even though he was shattered and then only doing 2 30 min naps a day and waking up constantly in the night. He only got a good night sleep when he was obviously so exhausted that his body made him stay conked out😂 then at 13mo he all of a sudden slept through a few times, not every night but 3/7. It was when he dropped to 1 nap that he consistently slept through. 6 months is a hard one as they're in a bit of pain with growth spurt and teething. Really hope you find what works for your little one. Sleep deprivation is no joke
