Hi all. Wondering if anyone can offer some advice before I shell out for a sleep consultant. Over the past 3 weeks my 17 month will not go to sleep until 10pm. He’s recently moved to one nap and his day is typically like:
8am wake
1-3 nap
try for bedtime any time from 8 onwards.

he will literally do somersaults on the bed, flip over and do anything to play.

he eventually goes to sleep when I sing to him or rub his back etc and will sleep for a few hours but could wake 1-2 times through the night. He is exhausted in the mornings and cranky. I just don’t understand what’s happened, he used to have a good routine of reading books in a chair and off he went but now doesn’t even want to look at his books.

i will caveat that he was on steroids for 6 days a few weeks ago and since then his sleep as been horrendous.

Bless you , sounds tough!
my understanding is that steroids can cause insomnia, so you may still be suffering some after effects?
have you tried to shorten the nap? You may need a longer wake window before bed.
