Day Time naps!

My son is 5 months old and we are really struggling with day time naps! What do your daily routines look like including nap times? He will nap in the cot but getting to sleep is very difficult and will not nap until he has reached the point of being over tired this then makes it very difficult to get to sleep! Each nap he has is around 20-40 minutes long will never naps longer! Is there any tips to encourage sleep through the day? Currently we are putting him in a dark room, putting on his sleeping bag like a night time but he will just not sleep without a fight before hand!

It sounds like your baby needs more support to get to sleep. Some babies do and it’s complete nonsense that putting baby’s down “drowsy but awake” helps them to learn to sleep.
Personally I would rock, hold, sing, sush, wear a sling or take out in the pram to help him. Whatever works for him! Motion, closeness and some gentle noise will help.
That way you are helping him to fall asleep before he’s exhausted and will probably get longer out of him.

Thank you for the advice! I will try this tomorrow!
