Hi I’m a ftm to an 11 week old.
I keep reading how important it is to put babies down and allowing them to fall asleep by themselves. Whenever I’ve tried this he just stays awake for ages, his eyes continually drop as if he’s falling asleep and then he almost stops himself and is alert again.
During the day he only naps in the sling or if we’re out car or pram.
He also has silent reflux so at night he falls asleep on me whilst I’m holding him upright after a feed.
is this something I need to worry about at his age or will he just get it in his own time?
there’s so much online about sleep and bad habits etc it’s hard not to worry about it all!

No please don't worry about this at 11 weeks! Try and just embrace the baby snuggles while you can. And when he's older and you're ready you can try something different, it's not so hard to break the habit in a couple of nights.

Please don’t worry about this! Your baby is so young and just needs you to be close to feel safe and secure!
Don't believe all the stuff on line about baby sleep a lot of it is nonsense. Follow Lynsey Hookway and nurtureneuroscienceparenting on insta for alternative (and more realistic!) views on baby sleep/behaviour.
Good luck! X

You have a good few years before you need to start and worry about it.

All babies are different.

Of my three, one had to be asleep before he went down, one drowsy and the last one went down wide awake.

At 11 weeks I wouldn’t be concerned.

11 weeks is way too young, goodly the fourth trimester

Thank you all for the reassurance. It’s so easy to get swept up in the sleep training/schedule posts everywhere.

@Brightandbreezey have just looked up lyndsey hookway and already feel better!
