Baby wakes up after 30 minutes at night

We have recently transitioned our 8 month old into her own room. She's done really well -hardly any crying!

The problem is she is waking up 30 minutes after I put her in her cot. Her normal routine is that she falls asleep on me and then I transition her into her cot.

We have also cut her down to 2 naps with a 3 hour wake window before bed. We have changed this from a 2.5 wake window so you would have thought she would be tired enough!

I know a lot of people would say to leave her in her cot and she will fall asleep again. The problem is the longer I leave her to go back to sleep on her own, the more she wakes up! Crawling around and playing in her cot. She can honestly be doing this for hours and then when I do go in it's even harder to get her to sleep after she's been awake a while. So it's easier to go in there after 5 minutes to try and settle her whilst she's still sleepy, but I know this might not be the right thing to do

Any tips / suggestions why she's doing this/ what to do would be great.

My guess would be overtired - my nearly 8 month old wakes up after one sleep cycle if he's too tired. If he's the right amount of tired then he does a 3 or 4 hour block before his first wake. Maybe the wake window is actually too long?

If she falls asleep on you, she might be confused when she wakes and finds she’s then in her cot? I’d work on trying to get her to fall asleep independently in her cot.

But also keep playing with wake windows…. We’ve recently extended our nine month olds last wake window and he’s settling much better. I was so worried about him being overtired, I didn’t actually stop and think if he could be under tired!

I think putting her in her crib before she falls asleep will help tremendously.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I was wondering about trying to get her to fall asleep in her cot. But she does wake up slightly when I put her in and after she gets past this wake up she is normally fine and sleeps though (will wake up and settle herself during the night). We mainly just use her falling asleep on me to calm her down for the night. I might try cutting her last nap by 15 minutes today. If she shows signs of being overtired maybe making her last nap later?
