Is there such thing as an 18 month sleep regression????

My DD is 18 months and sleeps through the night, so no problems there, but for about 6 weeks she has been waking after an hour of her daytime nap. Today, she wouldn't even let me put her down in her cot- it's like we have gone back steps!!!

Is this a regression and how on earth can I get us back on track?

She used to sleep 2-3 hours and now that it's just the hour, she wakes up exhausted still and often wakes early in the morning as a result...

I have tried different techniques such as, wake to sleep, which sometimes works but then she wakes up 15 mins later.

I've gone into the room to resettle her, but she refuses to go back to sleep.

I have even just left her for a bit when she's woken up, in hopes she goes back down on her own (this has worked twice) but she gets herself in such a state crying- I can't take it!

I've also tried adjusting times for the naps and just when she has a day where this works and she sleeps longer, I do the exact same thing the next few days and she's back to refusing!

I'm totally stuck on how to improve her naps... she's having busy days, fresh air, there is white noise on, no light in her room etc.

Anyone else gone through this and know what to do?

If there is we’re in it too! Naps are fine, but up once or twice a night…

Yes there absolutely is. I remember it well with DD2. Would wake up in the middle of the night and only go back to sleep if I held her hand through the cot bars… for aaaaages. As I recall, it ws awful for a week or two, then seemed to go away, then came back but a bit less bad for another 4 weeks…

DD1 never had it, but then she was a dreadful sleeper all the way through so maybe I just didn’t notice.

Ah just saw this is naps only. Frankly, an hour nap and sleeping through the night ain’t bad. Take it, be grateful and she will probably sleep longer again at some point.

I'm having the same with my twins but they are 14 months, they were napping for two hours, but we are lucky if we get an hour now. However they are finally sleeping through the night so I can't complain!
