Rubbing eyes

DS (16 weeks) has daytime sleep issues. Therefore we closely monitor his signs of fatigue. Two weeks ago he started rubbing his eyes in addition (and before) yawning. We thoughts it's a sign of tiredness. He is now rubbing his eyes (especially one) frantically to the degree that the skin around the eye is red. It is not all the time but I am wondering if there might be another reason e.g, a) allergies (I am prone to allergies, but have none right now. DS is BF excl.) b) itching from cradle cap. I put natural oil on the affected skin to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks!

No brilliant ideas, but it could be a combination of tiredness and having created an infection for himself with all the rubbing; conjunctivitis?

Hi Poodlepusher. Thanks for your reply. Seems his own little tick. Coniungivitis is a good idea. I though also maybe an ear infection? Any other ideas?

It could be blepharitis or conjunctivitis. I wouldn't expect it to be an ear infection though. It could just be that you LO is extremely tired and is rubbing his eyes very hard.
