New crib for chunky 3 month baby?

My 14 wk DS is on track to hit the 9kg weight limit guidance for his Snuzcot by the time he’s 4 months (Ebf, tall parents, HV not concerned as he’s also on 75th centile for length).
Original plan (we had a plan? Hahaha) had been to move him to a cot-bed in own room after we move house when he’s 7ish months to minimise disturbance. We’ve not yet purchased any nursery furniture because of said move, though we do have a spare room which could hold a cot too if necessary/ things get delayed.
He sleeps pretty well atm and is easily soothed by me throwing out a hand whilst dozing/ has one or two overnight feeds which I do in bed. I’d like to keep this convenience for the coming months esp if he has bad 4 month sleep regression and def want to sleep in the same room till at least 6 mths as I’m quite risk averse…

How have others dealt with similar issues? Ideally I try to
minimize purchase of ‘stuff’ for environmental reasons so would prefer something with a long useful life but would tend to buy beds new /would def want a new mattress for safety?
