Sleeping training questions 6 month old

After a couple of months of very broken sleep I decided to sleep train 6month old. After 3 nights he fell asleep with 2 mins of crying but it hasn’t helped the night waking at all. Last night he woke after 45 mins, settled himself then was awake after 15 mins. Then pretty much every hour after that including over an hour where he just wouldn’t stay asleep. Everything I’ve read about controlled crying says getting them to sleep in their cot helps the night waking and reports of babies sleeping through after it. Did anyone go through similar or have any tips before I shell out for a sleep consultant? Thanks!

Do they still have a feed in the night?
How did he used to fall asleep?

up to 5 months he was normally rocked to sleep as didn’t fall asleep while feeding but had a cold and teething then wanted to nurse to sleep. So recently it’s been feeding or rocking to sleep. When he wakes in the night I try to keep him in cot or pick up and rock to sleep but after a few hours I feed again and due to exhaustion the last few wakes are feed back to sleep in bed with me. I know it’s probably not helping but I can’t see a way through at the moment!

Consistency is the key. Normally within 2-4weeks you will see an improvement. I know its hard OP keep at it.
No talking or eye contact when they wake in the night and keep the room as dark as you can, was the best advice I was given.
Good Luck

Thank you. I’m generally disorganised and chaotic, routine and consistency are hard but I will try and hope for the best!
